Digital construction has been at the core of our teaching for many years and, together with TU Dublin (DIT), we were the co-founders of the national Construction IT Alliance www.cita.ie in 2001.
The BIMC Research Group was established within SETU’s Department of Architecture and Built Environment in 2012 and has completed over 105 partnership projects to date, mainly via EI’s Innovation Voucher scheme. Over the past 20 years the relevant SETU personnel have contributed to associated research and innovation activities, including the CITA BIM Conferences, the European Association of Product and Process Modelling (ECPPM) www.ecppm.org and the CIB International Working Commission W78 Information Technology for Construction www.cibw78.org
The current main focus is our active membership of the Build Digital Project Consortium www.builddigitalproject.ie which is due to run to 2025 www.tudublin.ie/explore/news/build-digital.html. The development of a Digital Twin Waterford in line with global best practice is also a priority activity for SABRE. The BIM and Digital Construction activities will also continue advance in partnership with colleagues in the Walton Institute = www.waltoninstitute.ie
