The Department of Architecture and Built Environment at South East Technological University recently hosted a series of invited lectures exploring the role of artificial intelligence and emerging digital technologies within architectural practice.
The lecture series, titled “The Strawbery Talks,” brought together professionals working at the intersection of architecture, digital infrastructure and technology to discuss how AI is beginning to influence design processes and the construction industry.
The talks were organised for final-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) students as part of their engagement with emerging digital tools and evolving professional practices.
Guest speakers included Denis McDonald, a senior leader with Google Street View, and Vinnie Quinn, founder of Evercam, whose work focuses on digital monitoring technologies within construction.
Through these lectures, students were able to gain direct insight into how AI and digital technologies are being deployed across a wide range of fields, from digital mapping and data infrastructure to construction monitoring and architectural workflows.
The series forms part of SETU’s broader effort to expose students to the technologies and professional contexts that are reshaping architecture and the built environment.
