SABRE Centre researchers recently presented at the CEIRA 2026 Conference (Civil Engineering Research Association of Ireland), hosted by Queen’s University Belfast. The conference provided an opportunity for researchers and educators to share innovative approaches to teaching, learning and applied research across a range of disciplines.
Representing SABRE, John Wall presented “DREAMER – Lessons Learned from Developing Case-Based Learning Resources to Enhance Construction Project Management Skills.” The presentation explored the development of educational materials for the Erasmus+ DREAMER project and highlighted how real-world case studies can be used to strengthen project management education.
Drawing on major Irish infrastructure projects, including the Dunkettle Interchange and the National Children’s Hospital, the research demonstrated how real-life project experiences can be translated into engaging learning resources that help students develop practical project management skills while gaining insight into the complexities of large-scale construction projects.
The presentation showcased the value of case-based learning in bridging the gap between theory and practice and highlighted the contribution of the DREAMER project to enhancing construction project management education across Europe, particularly in rebuilding Ukraine after the war.
